The Supreme Court Ruled Against Affirmative Action

Racial Injustice Once Again

WOW! Today, The Supreme Court of the United States decided the case, Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, holding race-conscious college admissions processes to be “unconstitutional” under the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause! To repeat, they see it as, “unconstitutional!”

This is a complete setback for the Black and Minority people in America. The Affirmative Action was created to stop inequities in the first place; to give them equal access to that of the majority (mainly the white population). How in the world do these judges think this ruling is fair [in any way - shape or form!]?

After conducting some research we found…

  • “The term "affirmative action" was first used in the United States in "Executive Order No. 10925", signed by President John F. Kennedy on March 6, 1961, which included a provision that government contractors "take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and employees are treated [fairly] during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin". It was used to promote actions that achieve non-discrimination."
  • "Also, in 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued "Executive Order 11246" which required government employers to "hire without regard to race, religion and national origin" and "take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed and that employees are treated fairly during employment, without regard to their race, color, religion, sex or national origin."
  • "It is often instituted for government and educational settings to ensure that certain designated groups within a society are able to participate in all provided opportunities including promotional, educational, and training opportunities.”

The bottom-line reason to enact “affirmative action” was to help compensate for past discrimination, persecution or exploitation by the ruling class of a culture, and to address existing discrimination! Now this is what you call fair!
