Post Date: July 2, 2024

There are several Awareness Events that are celebrated in the month of July.

National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month is observed each July to bring awareness to the unique struggles that racial and ethnic minority communities face regarding mental illness in the United States. This is a month for education, support, and most importantly solidarity. Wear a green ribbon to show colleagues, loved ones or just the people that you walk past each days will show that you care about their mental health.

Disability Pride Month - It is a time to celebrate the diversity of the disability community and to recognize the capabilities, achievements and accomplishments of people living with a disability. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges that people with disabilities face and to advocate for equal rights and opportunities. It aims to challenge stigma and promote a more inclusive workplace and world.

National Disability Independence Day – July 26 recognizes the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act passed in 1990, and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush.

World Hepatitis Day is observed each year on July 28 to raise awareness on viral hepatitis. The theme for World Hepatitis Day 2024, "Hepatitis Can't Wait," emphasizes the urgent need for accelerated efforts in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. The date of July 28 was chosen because it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr. Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus.
