Health Care Workers Are Speaking Up About the Racism in Facilities Nationwide.


Recent reports have shined a spotlight on how discrimination in health care is not only hurting patients, but is adding stress for health care providers and disproportionately burdening Black health care workers.


A recently filed Alabama nursing home lawsuit shows residents being neglected care, as well as a discriminatory environment at the facility toward both patients and staff - who were called “n****,” “slave girls” and “little Black girls.”


It’s one instance among many that have made national headlines, putting a spotlight on a trend that health care workers have been speaking up against for years — how the discrimination of Black patients within facilities is a serious problem that, ultimately, affects care delivery and outcomes.
