September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month

Post Date: September 1, 2023

This is a time to acknowledge those affected by suicide, raise awareness, and connect individuals with suicidal thoughts to seek treatment services.

Suicidal thoughts, much like mental health conditions, can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. In fact, suicide is often the result of an untreated mental health condition. Suicidal thoughts, although common, should not be considered normal and often indicate more serious issues.

This month can be used to spread hope and vital information to people affected by suicide. Family and friends should familiarize themselves with access to the resources needed to discuss suicide prevention and to help themselves and others seek the help needed.
