The 88th Texas Legislative Session is underway at the State Capitol. For the next four-and-a-half months, lawmakers will develop a new two-year state budget and deliberate over a sweeping variety of bills -- many of which will have an impact on the lives and livelihoods of older Texans and their families.

As state lawmakers gather in Austin, AARP will ask them to address issues crucial to our state's rapidly aging population. We want Texas legislators to improve nursing home care and quality, bolster utility systems to protect the medically vulnerable, and take steps to prevent elder financial exploitation.
